The spring of 2008 began earlier than usual in the meeting house of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Vinnytsya. While nature was awakening from its long winter sleep under warm rays of the spring sun and the birds were getting ready for their first spring rehearsals, it was really warm, and sometimes even hot in the meeting house. The initiative group of church members were making their first efforts to create a new children’s program “The ABC of Kindness”. Those who were interested in an effective upbringing took an active part in the project: they wrote scripts, prepared props, costumes, looked for the appropriate room and equipment. The kids acting in the program enjoyed the journey to the Land of Kindness where they met Kind Bear and could touch a rainbow and clouds. There was also the Magic Trunk full of treasures – pearls of kindness that became eternal and incorruptible wealth both in the travelers’ hearts and in the hearts of young viewers.
Programs of that kind are aimed at bringing up mature personalities with Christian values. Doing so today we will reap the harvest tomorrow, as it goes in Proverbs 22:6: “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it”. The camera crew did their best but they faced serious obstacles – the absence of the studio and lack of time. The program was shot in a room, used for cooking classes. Video editing was done at night-time . This is how it all started. Achievements and failures, joy and disappointment – all this has become familiar to the enthusiast. In summer 2009 the head office of Podil Conference and the head office of Hope Channel Ukraine made a decision about creating Podil Regional Media Center (PRMC). It was decided to build it in the attic of the central church building, “closer to heaven”. The local conference and laymen assisted the project financially and by their personal participation. The central studio in Kyiv provided its subsidiary with necessary equipment (a computer, lights, cameras). Today the studio is being given the last finishing touches. And, though to work efficiently it needs better equipment and decorations, the first program is planned to be recorded on 5 July, 2010.
At present the studio provides Hope Channel Ukraine with the news and interviews for the program “Morning of Hope”. The worked-out projects are as follows: - Children’s program “At Kind Beaver’s”
In the future it is planned to work out and record educational Bible programs, healthy lifestyle and humor programs, social advertisements, short life experience films as well as projects for teenagers. |
